Talk – Exercising for trillions. The story of you and your microbes.
Mehrbod Estaki, PhD (ABD)
About: Within each of us live trillions of micro-organisms that outnumber our own human cells and genome. While microscopic in size, there is nothing small about the power our ‘microbiota’ has over our health. These life-long companions influence just about every aspect of our body’s normal functions such as digestion, appetite, immunity, mental health, weight management, and even exercise performance. And while a healthy gut microbiota can improve all of these and many other aspects of our health, an unhealthy one is associated with countless chronic health conditions. So how can we take care of our microbiota? Join us with recent PhD graduate Mehrbod Estaki for an evidence-based lesson followed by an open discussion to learn all about your microscopic life partners and how you can assess and optimize their health in order to maximize yours.
