Jan 11, 2022  Update
Re-Opening Tuesday January 18th with regular hours!

Happy New Year – We miss you!

These past few weeks have been challenging for everyone, and we hope that you are all safe and healthy amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

We are beyond excited to open the club back up to all members and return to regular hours as of Tuesday, January 18th.

Re-Opening Tuesday January 18th with regular hours!

Since You’ve Been Gone……….

We would like to thank all of our members for your encouraging calls and emails. It means so much to us to have all your support as we navigate through these trying times. Without our members we would not be the club we are today. A huge heartfelt thank-you from all of us at Global.

Over the last 22 months we have been working with our health authorities advocating for our members physical and mental health in order to keep our doors open. We believe fitness should be an essential service and that fitness doors should remain open.

In our most recent discussion with Interior Health we asked what the plan was for Jan 18th and the response we received stated:

“Order is in place until Jan 18th and that Dr. Henry has indicated that she does not intend to put further restrictions in place.”

We are still unsure if any limitations will be in place when we are able to open, but that information will be shared with our members when we know more.

In the meantime, we urge all members to write to local political leaders- as we have been. Fitness is and should always be Essential.

Dec 22nd Updates

Dr. Bonnie Henry has just added to provincial restrictions intended to fight rising cases of COVID19.

Effective midnight tonight, December 22nd, 2021, all fitness facilities in BC have been mandated to shut their doors.

The health and fitness industry associations – including Global – are actively reaching out to our government seeking changes to restrictions for fitness facilities for us to stay open in some capacity. We will inform members of all updates through email, website, and social media as soon as we hear of any changes made to our operations.

We all know the importance of staying active and we need it now more than ever. During this time, Global will be offering online fitness programs so our members can seek to stay active and take care of their physical and mental health.

We are waiting to hear from Interior Health & Via Sport for clarity regarding the mandates for racquet sports. As soon as we have clarity, we will send another email to our members.

With the closure and re-opening being mid-month, we cannot offer prorates or holds on your membership dues. What we can offer is a Free Month at the end of your membership. Members would then give us their 30 days written notice and we would waive your last month’s dues.

We want to thank members for all your support over the last 22 months. From all of us at Global we wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Thank you

Global Team

Sept 7th Updates

Earlier this afternoon, provincial officials held a press conference to go into further details regarding the Vaccine Passport program that will be starting on Monday September 13th.
Since the start of this pandemic over 18 months ago, we have complied with all PHO mandates to keep all our members safe, comfortable and healthy. As we navigate through this next chapter in the COVID pandemic, we will continue to comply.
Here is the full list of settings where proof of vaccination will be required:
  • Indoor ticketed sporting events
  • Indoor concerts
  • Indoor theatre/dance/symphony events
  • Restaurants (indoor and patio dining)
  • Night clubs
  • Casinos
  • Movie theatres
  • Fitness centres/gyms (excluding youth recreational sport- i.e. racquet sports)
  • Businesses offering indoor high-intensity group exercise activities
  • Organized indoor events (eg. weddings, parties, conferences, meetings, workshops)
  • Discretionary organized indoor group recreational classes and activities
Starting September 13th, you will need to show proof of vaccination for every workout by producing the BC Vaccine Card or vaccination records received at the time of vaccination along with government issued photo ID. Ages 12-18 just need to show proof of vaccination.
No Proof = No Entry
Period.

As the government has not released the BC Vaccine Verrifier App yet, we will take the 1st week to visually verify every members status. We are currently working on a system for the QR Code and that will be ready as soon as possible.

If you do not have access to the internet, call 1-833-838-2323 to get a paper copy mailed to you.

Masks continue to be required in all indoor public spaces, and can be removed during exercise.

Update March 19th

Closure of Global Fitness and Racquet Club

Due to the British Columbia government declaring a state of emergency to support the provincial wide response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, I have no choice but to shut down the operations of Global Fitness for the unforeseeable future for the safety and health of our members and employees.

We all know that exercise is important for our individual physical and mental health, therefore, we are exploring alternative delivery methods of our programs. We hope to have more information to you in the near future.

The payment of member dues is being suspended effective April 1, 2020. Members will receive a full credit on their account when we reopen for business for the 15 days on which the facility was closed in March.

I wish you all the best during this time and hope that our closure is short-term in nature. Let’s stay connected, but not touching. We can do this.

In Health,

Darcia Fenton
General Manager
